August 17th, 2008 at 12:28 pmYeah, “To Live and Die in L.A.” was the one of the first things I thought of when I saw this list, but it was seriously absent.
Highly underrated film; made when William Friedkin was still relevant.

August 17th, 2008 at 12:45 pmYou forgot to mention the greatest car chase scene of all time in “The 7 Ups” with Roy “RIP” Scheider! That scene went on forever!

August 17th, 2008 at 1:21 pmI was looking to see where The Seven-Ups would land and I couldn’t believe it wasn’t there. No computer special effects, cars that didn’t have squat for handling, and the coolest ending for a chase. Here is the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hg4QtYizPKM

August 17th, 2008 at 2:02 pmI assume this list is “in no particular order” since ‘The French Connection’ and ‘Bullitt’ were listed so early on the list. Those are THE prototype car chase movies, and are the two main reasons why movies even have car chase scenes these days. They should be number 1 and 2, and not based on their production dates either, they made a profound impact on how American action movies were made.

August 17th, 2008 at 4:09 pmHow on earth could you leave out the chase scene from “The Blues Brothers” it set a record for the most police cars destroyed in a chase scene.

August 17th, 2008 at 8:58 pmI’m also going to assume this is in no particular order. No way is the French Connection and Ronin less awesome than Bad Boys 2 or The Fast and Furious. Keeerriiist.

August 17th, 2008 at 10:42 pmYou’re an idiot. You’ve insulted everyone that has ever seen a moving vehicle. Since you mention in #29 that these are ranked, you should issue an apology for not having Ronin, the French Connection, and Bullitt in the top five. Ronin is probably the best car chase scene in the last 15 years.

August 18th, 2008 at 1:17 am“Indiana Jones is the protagonist in this film as the Nazis are the antagonists.” Thanks for the recap, we’ve never heard of it.
I’m trying to wrap my mind around how boat chases, foot chases, speeder bike chases, and – Christ, I can’t believe you included this – a scene from Dumb & Dumber qualify as “insanely awesome car chases.”
Maybe you should let an adult write your lists for you.

Brute Sentiment
August 18th, 2008 at 6:28 amThis list must be one of the Top 5 on any list of the worst lists of all time.
I can even give a pass on the Star Wars chases (though the Pod race was a, you know, race, not a chase) since they involved futuristic replacements for cars, and even Dumb and Dumber’s inclusion (albeit not at #1) since it involved a car……
But a foot chase? In a list of ‘30 Insanely Awesome Car Chase Scenes’?
And I love that chase in Casino Royale. It’s one of the best action scenes in any movie since 2000, hands down. BUT IT’S A LIST OF CAR CHASES. QUALIFIER #1 HAS TO BE THAT IT INVOLVES A CAR AS SOMETHING OTHER THAN A BACKGROUND SETTING.
Wow. Your site is really lucky that GorillaMask linked to it….and now, I’ve been properly warned to never visit again.

The Gunpowder Treason
August 18th, 2008 at 8:40 amMight seem a trifling point at this time, but that scene you posted for “The Bourne Identity” is actually from “The Bourne Supremacy” and indeed if this list is ranked from lowest to highest in esteem, it should have been much, much higher.

August 19th, 2008 at 9:33 amWhat an awful list. I’ll just list two criticisms.
How can you mention the Gone in 60 Seconds REMAKE and not the 1974 original with its 25 minute chase. Jeesus.
Second, in the Rock, the ‘chase’ is largely a camera repeatedly jiggling and actors saying ‘He’s doing 75 miles an hour’ when we see the cars are clearly doing 35 mph. To rate this above Ronin, where F1 drivers were hired to drive the cars at highway speeds is frankly idiotic.

August 19th, 2008 at 3:41 pmThere were a couple of scenes in the James Bond movie “Live and Let Die” should be there too. The chase in Las Vegas, and the chase where Bond does a somersault in the car in Louisiana.

October 25th, 2008 at 1:34 amWho ever wrote the caption for the movie Bullitt has all facts wrong. Bullitt is played by Steve McQueen. McQueen plays a cop and drives the Mustang, not Ross. It’s Bullitt (McQueen) who’s following the guys in the Charger when the chase begins.

October 27th, 2008 at 1:33 pmBy listing the ultra-lame “Gone in 60 Seconds” remake and omitting the original, vastly superior version, you have established a complete lack of credibility.
Others that you ignored (or more likely, know nothing about): “The Blues Brothers”, “Vanishing Point”, “To Live and Die in L.A.”, “Grindhouse: Deathproof”, “Two Lane Blacktop”.
Your list is comprised mostly of FAIL and LAME. -
