The 40 Greatest Uses Of The Super Mario Theme
Kōji Kondō was born in 1960 in Nagoya, Japan. When he was 17, he decided to pursue music as a full time gig. When Kondō was 23, NIntendo hired him to write music for video games. Kondō was only allowed to use four instruments for the music. This included two monophonic pulse channels, a monophonic triangle, and a noise channel. This was because of the sound chip on the original Nintendo.
Kondō has also created music for games on the Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and the Wii. We have all grown up with this music and I guarantee you that anyone who has ever played the original Nintendo has the theme memorized and can hum to it.
Today, hundreds of people are attempting to recreate his music with a variety of instruments. This includes the organ, hand farting, burping, and even tesla coils. Check out the list below of some of the top uses of Kondō’s Super Mario Bros. theme.
40. Burping. This guy will make it far in life.
39. This guy plays it somehow with this teeth. This is pretty disgusting.
38. Hand farting the theme. Classy!
37. Typing the theme on a phone.
36. Some kid plays it with a ruler.
35. Mario theme on the tromboner.
34. Jamming on a 6 string banjo!
33. Wannabe Kenny G plays it on the sax!
32. Playing it on the clarinet.
31. The theme is played on a cornet.
30. Rock metal cover of the theme.
29. Played on a mandolin.
28. Playing the theme on the Taiko drums game
27. The theme gets played on a theremin.

24. The guy is wearing a 1 Up shirt and playing a harmonica.
23. This guy is playing it on a tuba. How does this guy not run out of breath and pass out?
22. You know the Mario theme is big when it’s on Guitar Hero.
21. WTF is Chapman stick? See below.
20. The theme played on the accordion. Just when you thought the most nerdiest instrument couldn’t do it, they made a video.
19. Super Mario at the end of a family service on a church organ.
18. This guy jams to the theme on the piano while blindfolded.
17. The theme mixed with hip hop and a fiddle.
16. Everything sounds good on the steel drums!

13. Vardum rocks out to the theme on drums.
12. Greg Patillo beat boxes and plays the flute at the same time.
11. Dueling Trumpets. This teacher and student are dressed like Luigi and Mario too!
10. Super Mario: Vice City style
9. DO THE MARIO! Too bad, this was a terrible show.
8. Played by a bassoon quartet.
7. A whole team of people blowing on bottles.
6. Zack Kim rocks out to the theme on two electric guitars at once:
5. Steve Ward and Jeff Larson’s twin tesla coils playing the theme on the lawn in Baraboo, Wisc.
4. This guy sets up the theme with an RC car with a bunch of bottles! Either he is incredible talented or has waaaaay too much time on his hands
